My friends and I usually go to the east coast; NEw Hampshire or Maine. It's a 5 hour drive so we make a weekend trip out of it camping and stuff. Tons of fun. :-)

Even though you are fit, you would still want something with float ad paddle power otherwise you could get frustrated at how hard it can be to ride a small board, especially if you are on the east coasts smaller waves. If you are surfing on a river wave, then you want a smaller board so t will fit into the wave. (there is a river wave in Ottawa, but I am not sure where)

Something like the funboard pictured here would be a board that has some float, and is also an all around type board. A longboard is really nice to on smaller waves, but it is a different style of surfing ... depends what you are looking for ... soulful experience or a wave ripping ride. :-) (though any ripping will take a fair amount of practice... surfing is tough to master)

Hi

I am a really new surfer (3 times) and am interested in pursuing it a little more. I live in Ottawa and was inspired by your website and the fact that you live in Montreal. What type of board would you recommend... I'm 5'8"and 168lbs and very fit (ironman triathlons etc)... and where do you surf around here?
